anathema

Noun C2 – Mastery

Something or someone that is strongly hated or completely unacceptable to a person or group.

"Cutting corners on safety was anathema to the veteran engineer."

Almost always used with "to," as in "anathema to someone," rather than as a plain noun on its own.
