absolute zero

Noun B2 – Upper-Intermediate

The theoretical lowest possible temperature, at which particles have minimal thermal motion, equal to zero kelvin.

"Absolute zero has never actually been reached in a laboratory, only approached extremely closely."

It equals about minus 273.15 degrees Celsius, which is why the kelvin scale starts counting from it.
