canonize

Verb B1 – Intermediate

To officially declare someone a saint, or more broadly, to treat something as an established, respected standard.

"The Catholic Church canonized the nun nearly a century after her death."

Outside religion it's used loosely to mean treating a work or idea as part of an accepted tradition, as in "canonized in literature classes."
