A colourless, odourless and highly toxic gas produced when fuels burn without enough oxygen.

"A faulty boiler can leak carbon monoxide into a house without anyone noticing until it's dangerous."

Because it has no smell or colour, homes with gas appliances are advised to install a dedicated detector.
