Verb A2 – Elementary

To leave one's own country permanently to live in another.

"Her grandparents emigrated from Italy in the 1950s."

"Emigrate" is used with "from" the country you leave, while "immigrate" is used with "to" the country you enter, the two describe the same move from opposite sides.
