The frequency at which an object vibrates most easily when disturbed, without any outside force continuing to drive it.

"Soldiers break step crossing a bridge in case their marching matches the bridge's natural frequency and causes it to resonate dangerously."

If an outside force pushes a system at exactly its natural frequency, the resulting resonance can build up dramatically.
