A clause that gives more information about a noun, usually introduced by a word like 'who', 'which', or 'that'.

"In 'the book that I borrowed was excellent', the relative clause is 'that I borrowed'."

A relative clause introduced by 'that' usually can't be set off with a comma, unlike one introduced by 'which'.
